progress review analysis

Finding the context that will be projected through my devices goes side by side with the design process. How do I explore spaces using my rigs? What are similar devices used for!

My understanding  for the context:

NASA Rover:

 Bomb Disposal Robots:

Experimental ideas from film as measure symposium

After the symposium I got super excited and went back to the market fishing for new idea's to import into my practice.

Change the wheels!

I started off by getting rid of the plastic wheels from the RC Car. I modified the axel to support my new wheels and hoped for a steadier grip with less shakiness on the floor.

RC car

So I decided to work with my design and I moved forward with some initial design ideas and unbelievable amounts of planning.

Tony Hill and his camera rigs

After my last exercise i think what I need is some sort of a rig like the ones Tony Hill makes. His God's View camera rig is a good example.

I am also looking at camera dolly's and their function and my new device will try and incorporate ideas from my current learnings.

After gaining some in depth knowledge about camera rigs I 've decided to move forward with my own project by constructing a new device that can record and project on the same mechanism. I'm thinking of building my own custom track and have a motorised device that can carry my camera or projector back and forth.

converting digital to film

After realising that my device wasn't perfect I decided to translate my illustrator drawings of the camera movement in a 3D form. I used transparent paper to print on and translated the digital into analog; for a detailed analysis of the camera movement. The sole purpose for carrying out this exercise was to help me think better in terms of what the actual movement should be.
